Visiting Carfax College
Visitors should use the door at number 42, Hythe Bridge Street. The entrance is marked by a large brass plaque.
Visitors may sometimes be directed to our second building nearby at number 25, Beaumont Street (OX1 2NP).
There are various pleasant ways of reaching the college on foot from the city centre:
Starting on St. Giles', you should turn down Beaumont Street past the Randolph Hotel and the Ashmolean Museum, then turn left at the traffic lights in front of Worcester College, and then follow the road round to the right onto Hythe Bridge Street.
Alternatively, starting at the intersection of Broad Street and Cornmarket Street, you should descend along George Street, past the New Theatre and the splendid old history faculty building, and then down over the crossroads and onto Hythe Bridge Street.
From the original Carfax crossroads in the very centre of the city, you should follow Queen Street down to the west, continue down New Road past the ancient castle mound, turn right at the traffic lights beside Nuffield College, and then turn left onto Hythe Bridge Street when you reach the big crossroads at the bottom of George Street.
Once you are on Hythe Bridge Street, you will find the college on the right hand side, not far beyond the bridge over Castle Mill Stream.
