INDIVIDUAL GCSE COURSE
(1 to 2 years)
This is a bespoke programme that can be tailored to meet individual pupils’ specific needs very closely. Pupils may start their studies at any point in the year.
The exam-focused curriculum is taught in individual sessions by experienced tutors, ensuring that each pupil’s strengths and weaknesses are noted and addressed, that they are fully engaged at all times, and that they receive constant, constructive feedback. Even the exam boards are chosen on an individual basis during the course to reflect previous qualifications and different learning styles.
For those requiring a more rigorous academic programme IGCSE courses are offered in place of standard GCSEs.
There is also regular exam practice, and arrangements are made for at least five hours of additional supervised study per week. Monthly reports are sent home to parents or guardians, detailing pupils’ progress, attendance, and punctuality. To complement their individual one-to-one GCSE tuition, pupils at Carfax College are offered a full extra-curricular timetable and PSHE (Personal, Social, Health & Economic Education).
Carfax College also offers tuition and guidance for GCSE re-takes. We can provide intensive one-year full-time courses, or two-year courses which pace revision over six terms.

Specially designed for international students, this course provides a foundation for entry into an A level programme in the following September.
As the core of their course, pupils study for a minimum of four GCSEs.
They are also encouraged to study for an extra two GCSEs in additional subjects, which will help them with admission to sixth form at British independent schools.
Improving English is an important aspect of this course. The English as a Second Language (ESL) GCSE, aimed at international students completing general secondary education in the medium of English, is recognized by many sixth form colleges and universities.
